Who we are

Fewer dogs
in need.

In 2026, we founded Stichting Pawsitive Story to prevent animal suffering at its source. We help dogs find loving homes in the Netherlands. Through proceeds from rehoming and donor support, we make sterilisation possible and contribute to projects in Romania.

Our motivation

Preventing suffering at its source

We believe much animal suffering in countries such as Romania can be prevented. We want to make sterilisation possible for people who cannot afford it and for stray dogs already facing hardship. For us, lasting change begins at its source.

Alongside our sterilisation work, we help dogs find loving homes in the Netherlands. In our foster care, they receive calm, attention and time to build trust. From there, we support dogs and adopters in making a happy start together.

What we do

Two activities. One goal.

A suitable home for dogs today, less suffering for dogs tomorrow.

Thoughtful rehoming

We help dogs from abroad find suitable homes in the Netherlands. The dog’s personality and needs and the adopter’s home situation are at the heart of finding a match.

Sterilisation

Through proceeds from rehoming and donor support, we fund spaying and neutering. This tackles animal suffering at its source and helps us make a difference with limited resources. We focus on stray dogs and dogs whose owners cannot afford the procedure. This helps dogs today while working towards fewer dogs in need in the future.

Our story

How Pawsitive Story began

We started Pawsitive Story with a shared belief. We had previously worked together at another foundation on dog rehoming and sterilisation. When that foundation’s future became uncertain, we wanted to continue this work.

In spring 2026, we founded Stichting Pawsitive Story. Our starting point: carefully helping dogs find loving homes and using the proceeds to make more sterilisation possible. We chose to establish our own foundation to continue and develop this combination. Helping today also makes a difference for the future.

With the name Pawsitive Story, we want to express that idea: a positive story for the dogs we rehome, while thinking about the long term. Through sterilisation, we want to prevent puppies being born into a life of survival on the streets. This means preventing suffering before it begins.

We formed a board, and dedicated people who share this belief soon joined us. Together, we work to make a lasting difference.

After a period of preparation and setting things up, we began our hands-on work in late August 2026.

Our care continues after adoption

We stay in close contact, especially during the early weeks, to support the transition to a new home. We offer advice on settling in, answer questions and help dogs and adopters get off to a good start together. You can still turn to us afterwards.

  • Getting to know each dog first

Every dog lives in our foster care first. We learn their personality and needs before looking for a suitable home.

  • If things turn out differently

If a dog cannot stay with their adopter, our starting point is that the dog can return to our foster care. We discuss what is needed together and carefully coordinate their return.

  • Lifelong care when needed

If illness or other circumstances mean a dog cannot be rehomed, they can stay with Pawsitive Story, with safety, attention and care.

A nonprofit foundation

Stichting Pawsitive Story is a nonprofit foundation. We aim to obtain ANBI status, the Dutch designation for a public benefit organisation. We do not currently hold this status.

Registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 42090619.

How we use our funds

Funds remaining after costs are reinvested in helping dogs. We focus on three goals, with spaying and neutering as our priority:

  1. Spaying and neutering. We aim to make projects possible that help prevent more dogs from ending up in need.
  2. Medical care for foster dogs. We set funds aside for medical care so foster dogs can receive the medical help they need.
  3. Dogs who stay with us. We set funds aside for the ongoing care of dogs who live permanently with Pawsitive Story because of illness or because they cannot be rehomed.
